  i was scared to visit the toilet in the night and used to race from my bed to the bathroom and back again!

  JW membership turnover - a real-life study

  much has been commented here on how jw's rely on an ever-changing membership for keeping their 'the sky is falling, the world is ending' doctrine fresh.. recently it was posted that fully 2/3 of born-in jw's leave at some point, and i thought you might like to see how this works in practice.. so lets take sam and i and our extended families - we were both born and brought up jw's.

  start with me.

  mum and dad were converted in the 1950's.

  new scientist magazine says that in the event of say a pandemic, he things we take for granted could collapse .eg electricity, clean water etc.

  What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?

  when i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".

  so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

  i certainly have heard a lot of idiotic stuff during my tenure as a witness - but this one is priceless:.

  a neophyte was complaining about the heat, humidity, physical effort, etc., involved in attending the district convention at veteran's stadium in philadelphia - and she was right.

  it was miserable.

  can we come up with a way of doing something which doesn't identify us individually whilst at the same time shows there are others "of us" there?.

  any ideas?.

  I wouldn't attempt anything at a Kingdom Hall level. There's safety in numbers and that means a convention.

  I guess some of you have seen it all before, as a relative newbie on the block I suppose i'm not quite so jaded yet.

  Ahh, well I wouldn't necessarily put it under my seat.

  I like the coughing idea missinglink. How about everyone starts a coughing fit as the keynote address speaker gets on the platform?

  It would be great if we could come up with something really simple but effective. I don't think I have yet. Keep the ideas coming.
